Being a Philanthropist

Josh

I haven recently been contacted about doing a website for a non-profit organization(A church) and was asked how much I charge. I was kind of stunned by this. Not stunned that I was contacted by someone to do a website, but for a person of the cloth to ask how much I would charge for a website.

I guess I come from the old school, where churches and non-profit agencies are not run like businesses. They rely on donations and people helping out with their finances so they can in turn help others. I am a firm believer in if you give, you will receive much more back in the long run.

So, needless to say, I didn't charge the church for developing the website for them. I know it will probably cost me money in the short term(My time is valuable) but I will be rewarded in the long term because I know that helping someone that helps others is a great feeling.

All I ask is when you are given an opportunity to help someone don't even hesitate about it. You will be rewarded for helping others. It might not always be a financial reward but a heart filled with gold is worth its weight in gold.
